1 Samuel 5:3 When the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the LORD! They took Dagon and put him back in his place.

  • We can become so committed to believing something that no matter what is in front of us, we will not believe it.
  • We need to seek God first, not the things of God.

Hebrews 3:12-13 See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. (13) But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

“Darkness Can Not Prevent the Dawn"

The Philistines Capture the Ark

  • Man’s idea, not God’s
  • They wanted the Ark of God not God himself.

1 Samuel 4:3 When the soldiers returned to camp, the elders of Israel asked, "Why did the LORD bring defeat upon us today before the Philistines? Let us bring the ark of the Lord's covenant from Shiloh, so that it may go with us and save us from the hand of our enemies."

The Death of Eli

1 Samuel 4:18 When he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell backward off his chair by the side of the gate. His neck was broken and he died, for he was an old man and heavy. He had led Israel forty years.

Deuteronomy 32:28 They are a nation without sense, there is no discernment in them.

  • Having a relationship with God is the only way you can win.

God is still there: He looked and saw no one to intervene.

“The Lord Calls Samuel”

How do you know we are in God’s plan?

How do you know you are hearing from God?

1 Samuel 3:7- 8 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD: The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him. The LORD called Samuel a third time, and Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." Then Eli realized that the LORD was calling the boy.

God will always have a servant. How does God speak to us? - Some of the ways:

  • Through dreams and visions.
  • Through confirming prophecy.
  • Taking time with the Lord and listen.
  • In times of prayer.
  • Through the reading of the word.

God is moved by those who humble themselves before Him.
God expects you to be an adult.
